Eating Good Food
Ark of Taste http://www.slowfoodusa.org/index.php/programs/details/ark_of_taste/ According to their website, the Slow Food Ark of Taste "...seeks, first and foremost, to save an economic, social and cultural heritage - a universe of animal breeds, fruit and vegetables, cured meats, cheese, cereals, pastas, cakes and confectionery. Our mission is to preserve endangered tastes - and to celebrate them, by introducing them to the membership and then to the world, through media, public relations, and Slow Food events."
Slow Food USA http://www.slowfoodusa.org

On the Slow Food USA website, they quote their mission as follows:

"Slow Food USA envisions a future food system that is based on the principles of high quality and taste, environmental sustainability, and social justice – in essence, a food system that is good, clean and fair. We seek to catalyze a broad cultural shift away from the destructive effects of an industrial food system and fast life; toward the regenerative cultural, social and economic benefits of a sustainable food system, regional food traditions, the pleasures of the table, and a slower and more harmonious rhythm of life."

Animal, Vegetable, Miracle http://www.animalvegetablemiracle.com Great book if you believe in using local food products! As stated on their website: "Part memoir, part journalistic investigation, this book tells the story of how our family was changed by one year of deliberately eating food produced in the place where we live." I got the book on CD from the local library and had to renew to listen to it a second time!
