READ AN EXCERPT FROM OUR NEWSLETTER What is a modern day farmer? That’s a good question and I wish I had one answer but no such luck. Today’s modern day farmer is a kaleidoscope of talents, each one as important as the next. Farmers are environmentalists, they have a farm to steward and they are responsible for the soil, the water, the trees, the grass and the animals that call that chunk of earth their home. You can be an environmentalist without being a so called “tree hugger”; you understand your piece of earth and know what’s best for it while still utilizing it for production.... Farmers are horticulturalists or botanists; we have to know how to grow grass, what kinds of grasses to grow and how to best utilize our soils for the best possible grass we can have.... One of the biggest areas of a farmer's duties is CEO; with over 1000 employees aka livestock, it’s a full time job keeping everyone where they need to be or where they need to go.... When you let your guard down for just minute things can go bad in a hurry. No small task! Sound interesting? Want to hear more about what we do on our farm?
